    After School Chinese Language Learning Program
    Grades 3-5

    This 6 week after-school language immersion program, focusing on reading, conversation, and writing, is carefully designed by offering kids a hybrid Chinese language learning in school and home and is taught in a modern collaborative and interactive learning environment. The student will develop basic skills to recognize Chinese characters, learn standard Chinese pronunciation and Pinyin, stroke of Chinese Characters. The instructor will also help students to explore diversity and culture.

    Instructors are part of the Columbus Chinese Academy. This non-profit Chinese language school has been offering classes from Kindergarten through Grade 12 since 1973. It employs both the traditional teaching method and the Pinyin teaching method which is currently practiced in mainland China. All classes are taught by experienced and/or certified teachers.     Introduction to Chinese Martial Arts

    Learning Kung Fu will challenge childrenís minds and bodies, teach them leadership, respect, courage, and help them build confidence and self-discipline. In addition, they will gain physical strength & flexibility, and have fun while learning the moves!

    This six-week introductory class will teach the basic techniques of Kung Fu/Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) including hand works, leg works, basic stances, basic forms and basic weapons.

    16 time World Champion Master Sen Gao has over 20 years of professional training and more than 10 years of teaching experience in Chinese martial arts.

    Learn to Jump Rope

    A jump rope class is being offered to help support good growth, exercise, and encourage healthy living. You will learn basic skills with hand eye foot coordination, grow your endurance, and learn some cool tricks. You can learn Double Dutch, Long Rope, and individual skills. As a jumper himself, the instructor, Korey, is experienced with teaching all ages how to jump individually as well as with a group. Jump rope is an exercise that can last a life time. Please sign up today to give it a try, and hopefully fall in love with exercise.

    The instructor, Korey Inman, is the coach of Dublin Sparks Jump Rope Team. He has been jumping rope since the third grade and is still jumping today. Over the years he has earned many awards and been involved in many competitions and performances. He works full time at Worthington Jewelers and has his Bachelorís Degree in Human Resource Management. He loves jumping rope and teaching others how.

    The instructor, Deb DiSalvo, works as the Building Educational Attendant at Daniel Wright Elementary and is also an artist, specializing in fused glass art, jewelry and ceramics. She has been selling her art at various art shows throughout Columbus and its surrounding areas for the past 15 years, as well as having an on-line etsy shop.

    644102 - Ceramics

    This 8 session class is designed for people interested in the many aspects of ceramics. Clay is a fun and exciting medium. We can explore the techniques from pinch pots, slabs building, sculpting, to throwing on the wheel. We end the last couple weeks on glazing and finishing all the pieces.

    Pick up date will be November 17th.

    Please wear comfortable cloths & shoes. Bring an old towel. You may want to wear an apron. Fee does not include clay and glaze.

    The instructor, Jo-Ann Siedlecki-Vento is a retired art teacher from the Dublin City Schools. She is a graduate from Ohio Dominican University and Xavier University. Jo-Ann has participated in various juried art shows and exhibits over the past 40 years including The Ohio State Fine Arts Exhibit, Winter Fair, Art on the Square 2014 & 15, and De La Naturaleza 2016.

    The instructor, Faith Lackey, is a certified teacher of English as a Foreign Language. She began as a teacher's assistant in the Dublin Baptist ESL program in 2011 and is now one of their teachers. Faith has been teaching her class of intermediate language learners for four years now. Faith loves teaching English and the opportunities it brings to meet new people from different cultures.

    644107 - Dogs: Group Obedience Training

    If you love your dog, you should train him so that both of you have a happy, well-balanced relationship for life. This 60-minute, four-week class will teach the commands heel, sit, down, come and stay without the use of treats. Dogs must be on leash (no retractable leashes) at all times.

    The instructor, Amy Durfey, is a Certified Professional trainer. Amy has her B.A. from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPT) from National K-9. She is certified in basic obedience, behavior modification, scent detection and puppy development. Amy trains therapy dogs, on and off-leash obedience, tricks & games, and bed bug scent detection. She has 4 dogs, Tinker and Bella the Chihuahuas, Digby the Jack Russell Beagle mix and Ozzie the Cattle Dog Beagle mix.

How does property pass when you die, and what are the benefits of wills and trusts? How can you reduce estate taxes and administration expenses which could shrink your estate? All this and more in Estate Planning 101.

    The instructor, Rich Seils, is an estate planning and probate attorney at the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease LLP. Rich's practice includes assisting individuals, business owners and executives with comprehensive planning for disability, transfer of property at death, and reduction of estate and gift taxes. In 2010, Ohio Super Lawyers selected Rich as a "Rising Star" in Estate Planning and Probate.

    Did you ever want to be an actor? Or, do you just want something to do thatís creative and different from your every day life? Welcome to Dublin Theater Academyís Improv/Acting Workshop.

    Improvisation is the launching pad for actors and performers. Improv essentially is getting on stage, not knowing what you will do or say and going for it! Itís a tool used in training actors to think quickly on their feet, for exploring their creativity and new ideas, and it allows them to jump in and take creative risks on stage.

    This four week workshop will cover the basics of Improv, including improv games, individual work, partner/scene work, ensemble work, tools to develop characters and taking audience suggesting of theme/time or place and launching a scene. Improv is a great tool for the workplace and for life! Come and play!

    The instructor, Lauren Wilkens, is a Chicago native and was a professional actress in both Chicago and New York. She studied Theater at Ohio University and also trained and interned with Steppenwolf Theater Company, the Actors Center and Second City. Currently, she is a Network Playwright with Chicago Dramatist Theater.
