    632520 - Improv / Acting Workshop

    Improv / Acting Workshop
    Dublin Theater Academy
    Grades 4-5

Improvisation is the launching pad for actors and performers. Improv essentially is getting on stage, not knowing what you will do or say and going for it! It’s a tool used in training actors to think quickly on their feet, for exploring their creativity and new ideas, and it allows them to jump in and take creative risks on stage. Improv will sharpen their awareness as an actor/performer and also provide insight into themselves both onstage and in life.

The instructor, Lauren Wilkens, is a Chicago native and was a professional actress in both Chicago and New York. She studied Theater at Ohio University and also trained and interned with Steppenwolf Theater Company, the Actors Center and Second City. Currently, she is a Network Playwright with Chicago Dramatist Theater.

This one week workshop will cover the basics of Improv, including improv games, individual work, partner/scene work/relationships, ensemble work, entering a room/scene and making it count, tools to developing characters and learning to take audience suggestions of theme, time or place to launch a scene. Come be yourself and jump in!
